Soil Sisters Weekend Featuring Workshops, Food, and More

If you’re a woman new to farming who’s a little intimidated by the path ahead, you’re not alone. Lisa Kivirist and her 20 members in the Green County area are here to help. This weekend is the 7th annual Soil Sisters event, and it’s not too late to sign up!

Visit over 20 female-operated farms and agri-businesses in Monroe and Brodhead for free. “Green Acres Workshops” will instruct small groups on launching your own farm, making cheese, spinning fiber, preserving the harvest, and many more useful skills. Taste of Place on Friday will feature local food and drinks, and tickets are required to attend. To wrap it all up is fine dining on Friday and a Farm to Table Dinner on Saturday.

The event takes place this Friday through Sunday. More information can be found at soilsisterswi.org.

About Pam Jahnke

Getting up at 2 in the morning might shock some of her listeners, but for Pam Jahnke, it’s part of the business. Born in Northeastern Wisconsin, Pam Jahnke grew up in agriculture. Raised on her family’s 200-acre dairy farm, she learned the “farm work ethic” first hand.
