The Dairy Business Association has elected a senior dairy consultant to its board of directors.
Steve Bodart, who has been with Compeer Financial for 16 years, was elected by the group’s board on March 12.
At Compeer, Bodart’s areas of expertise include budget scenario development, financial and production analysis on dairy and custom heifer operations, building design and layouts for commercial dairies, risk management and understanding leading indicators for business success.
Bodart said DBA has a strong track record of revitalizing Wisconsin’s dairy community and making it possible for dairy businesses to achieve their goals.
“DBA has been willing to challenge the status quo and help our political officials, our rural neighbors and the community see the value that a strong dairy environment brings to the state,” he said.
“As the organization looks at continuing to enhance the dairy industry, it is important that we balance the needs of our members and our communities.”
Bodart was raised on a 60-cow traditional dairy farm in eastern Wisconsin. Prior to joining Compeer, he was the chief financial officer of a large modern dairy in western Wisconsin where he was responsible for milk marketing, contracting feed, communications, budget and actual performance updates with the lender.
DBA President Mike North said Bodart is respected throughout the Midwest as he serves clients and works with other members of the agribusiness community.
“Steve’s wealth of knowledge concerning farm design, management and financial protocols has greatly served the dairy community for more than 20 years,” North said. “He is a trusted adviser to his clients and wonderful resource to all who know him. We look forward to the insight that Steve will bring to the board.”
Bodart replaces Cindy Leitner, who resigned from the board after two years of service.
He and his wife, Stacie, live in Baldwin, Wis. He has two daughters and two stepchildren.
