Three Seats Open on the Wisconsin Corn Promotion Board

Three Seats Open on the Wisconsin Corn Promotion Board

Are you or do you know of a Wisconsin corn producer that you think would make a good addition to the Wisconsin Corn Promotion Board? If so the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection is currently accepting nominations for three seats on the board. The seats are available to producers who grow and sell corn in Districts 3, 5 and 6.

The following counties that make up districts 3, 5, and 6, and are eligible to nominate a producer or to be nominated:

  • District 3: Forest, Florence, Marinette, Langlade, Oconto, Shawano, Door, Outagamie, Brown, Kewaunee, Winnebago, Calumet, Manitowoc, Fond du Lac, and Sheboygan counties.
  • District 5: LaCrosse, Vernon, Crawford, Richland, Grant, Iowa, and Lafayette counties.
  • District 6: Sauk and Dane counties.

Nominations for the Wisconsin Corn Promotions Board will be accepted through November 1, 2017. A completed nomination form must include the signatures of five eligible corn growers other than the nominee. Completed forms must also be notarized.

Nomination forms can be found on the Wisconsin Department of Agrciulture, Trade and Consumer Protection’s website on the “corn” link, http://datcp.wi.gov/ /About/Boards_and_Councils/Marketing_Boards

Nomination forms can also be mailed to producers. To receive a form in the mail contact the DATCP’s Market Order Coordinator, Debbie Gegare at 608-224-5116 or at [email protected] prior to November 1, 2017.  Once the nomination form is completed, mail the forms to WI DATCP, DAD, P.O. Box 8911, Madison, WI 53708-8911.

After the nominations close, DATCP will conduct the Wisconsin Corn Promotion Board election from December 15, 2017 through January 10, 2018.

The elected growers will serve three-year terms beginning February 1, 2018.
