Four Wisconsin women have received Wisconsin Farmers Union scholarships to attend the National Farmers Union Women’s Conference in Clearwater Beach, Florida later this month. They include: Peg Scheaffer and Jen Riemer of the South Central chapter and Naomi Dvorachek and Jane Mulroy of the Wood-Portage-Waupaca chapter.
This year’s conference focuses on Women Making Moves: Managing Transitions on the Farm. Several WFU members will be presenting, including Wood-Portage-Waupaca’s Lisa Shirek, who will be part of a panel on innovative business models, and South Central Chapter President Kriss Marion, who will speak about the value of grassroots organizing. Bridget Holcomb, who many of us know through her work with the Women, Food and Agriculture Network, will host a session on effective communication.
