For Sam Goldberg, making television has always been about telling stories that stay with people. Now, he’s using that passion to produce a series about farming, family, and mental health. Perfect Sundays is a new six-part limited show centered on a dairy farm. The project grew from Goldberg’s belief that rural America deserves to be portrayed authentically on screen. Episode 1 made its premiere at World Dairy Expo in front of large crowd.

“I wanted to create film and TV that inspired people, because the film and TV I watched growing up inspired me,” he said.

After making Silo, a project about grain farming, Goldberg turned his attention to dairy — and the challenges farmers face beyond the work itself.

A powerful version of a farm family story

Perfect Sundays explores mental health, family dynamics, and the idea of an ice cream entrepreneurship to life, while following a family trying to find time to slow down and reconnect. Goldberg believes that message is especially important for farmers.

“I want farmers to feel compelled to maybe go back to church, connect with their local faith-based leaders, and give themselves a Sabbath,” he said. “Farmers deserve it. They need it.”

But he also wants the series to reach people outside agriculture.

“Consumers enjoy the milk, cheese and ice cream produced by farmers,” Goldberg explained. “But communities also need to look out for the people producing their food. Let farmers feel appreciated and let the rest of the country appreciate them, too.”

Goldberg brought Perfect Sundays to World Dairy Expo in Madison, Wisconsin, where he said he immediately felt welcomed by the dairy community.

“I love this place,” he said. “It’s such good vibes.”

The series is now available to watch at PerfectSundaysTV.com, with the World Dairy Expo discount code of WDE available for viewers.

Goldberg’s goal is simple — share a story that helps connect farmers with the communities around them. And maybe, for a few hours on a Sunday, it is also a reminder that it’s OK to slow down.
