You may agree. Moving your data between farm equipment and digital farming programs can be a headache. A new device created by BASF Agricultural Solutions, the xarvio CONNECT 2.0, is designed to make digital farming easier.
The portable device connects farm machinery to the xarvio FIELD MANAGER. It allows you to send application maps to your equipment while bringing information from the field back into your farm management system.
Farmers connect the device to a machinery terminal using a USB port. An integrated SIM card handles the data transfer, so a smartphone or tablet isn’t needed. The device can also work when cellular coverage is limited.
“Our aim is to help make agriculture in the United States more productive, profitable and sustainable with digital tools,” Kyle King, Head of Digital Farming with BASF Agricultural Solutions, said. “By expanding connectivity options with xarvio FIELD MANAGER and improving ease of use, farmers can optimize crop production and make better use of existing farm machinery.”
The system is compatible with a variety of equipment used for planting, crop protection and crop nutrition. This includes use with some older machinery. It can also collect information ranging from harvest data and moisture levels to application rates. Farmers can use that information in xarvio FIELD MANAGER to help with planning, tracking costs, and estimating yield and revenue.
The device also includes GPS to help track equipment locations and improve field logistics.
BASF tested xarvio FIELD MANAGER during the 2025 growing season. It offers a simple goal — to make it easier for farmers to move data between their fields, farm equipment and digital tools, without having to replace the machinery you already own.
