A longtime northwestern Wisconsin tradition returns to the arena at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls Campus Farm. The 62nd annual Falcon Frontier Days Rodeo is set for September 11-12. It will bring close to 300 collegiate rodeo competitors to River Falls for the weekend.
The UWRF Rodeo Club will compete alongside teams from across the Great Plains region of the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association (NIRA). Some of the events planned during Falcon Frontier Days include saddle bronc riding, calf roping, barrel racing and other traditional rodeo competitions.
Friday’s performance begins at 7 p.m. There are also performances scheduled at 1:30 and 7 p.m. Saturday. The outdoor rodeo arena is located at 1475 South Wasson Lane.
The event has been part of the UW-River Falls calendar since 1964, with one exception. The 2020 rodeo was canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Tickets and livestream
Tickets are available at the gate for cash purchases or online in advance. Admission is $20 for adults, $15 for UWRF students buying in advance and $10 for children ages 5-12. Children 4 and younger are admitted free, and military veterans receive a $5 discount.
Parking at the rodeo grounds is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Food will also be available at the concession stand.
If you can’t make it to River Falls, the performances will be livestreamed on the UWRF Rodeo Facebook page.
