Forage growers have until August 20 to enter the 2026 World Forage Analysis Superbowl, one of North America’s premier forage quality competitions. With $29,000 in cash awards available, the contest recognizes producers who excel in growing high-quality forage while highlighting management practices that improve dairy profitability.
Growers compete in nine categories: Commercial Hay, Grass Hay, Dairy Hay, Alfalfa Haylage, Mixed/Grass Haylage, Baleage, Cereal Forage, Standard Corn Silage and BMR Corn Silage. (Corn silage entries closed in July.)
Each category winner receives $1,500, with additional cash awards presented to second through fifth place. The Grand Champion Forage Grower earns $2,500, while the Grand Champion First-Time Entrant receives $2,000. Two Quality Counts Awards, recognizing excellence in the Hay/Haylage and Corn Silage divisions, each carry a $1,000 prize.
Winners will be recognized during the World Forage Analysis Superbowl Awards Reception and Ceremony at World Dairy Expo on Wednesday, September 30, at 11:30 a.m. on the Dairy Forage Seminar Stage in the Trade Center.

Entry forms, contest rules and additional information are available at www.worlddairyexpo.com/World-Forage-Analysis-Superbowl.php. The entry fee is $45 per sample, and every participant receives a complete forage analysis summary for each sample submitted.

Doug Harland, laboratory manager for Dairyland Laboratories in De Pere, whose involvement with the contest spans nearly 40 years, is quick to encourage growers to submit samples. He notes, “The competition encourages forage producers to benchmark quality while showcasing management practices that improve animal performance and farm profitability. Quality forages have a tremendous impact on a dairy’s bottom line. This contest has been celebrating excellence for more than four decades and we strive to share best practices.”
In addition to honoring the industry’s top forage producers, the World Forage Analysis Superbowl offers six Dairy Forage Seminars featuring leading researchers, Extension specialists and progressive dairy producers during World Dairy Expo. The seminars provide practical, research-based information on forage production, harvest, storage and utilization and are approved for one Certified Crop Adviser (CCA) continuing education credit each.
