2026 Wisconsin Gun Deer Hunt for Hunters with Disabilities
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) reminds eligible hunters with disabilities to contact and confirm their hunting location with a sponsor before Sept. 15, 2026, if they plan to participate in this year’s gun deer hunt.
Find Your Location Early
For the upcoming Oct. 3–11, 2026 season, generous sponsors have enrolled nearly 70,000 acres of land across 47 counties. Because property capacities vary, hunters should reach out to potential sponsors as soon as possible to secure a spot. Keep in mind that participants may only sign up for one sponsored property per year.
To register, hunters or their assistants need to contact sponsors directly and provide:
Full name
Contact information
DNR customer ID number
Eligibility Requirements
To join the hunt, participants must hold a valid gun deer license and possess one of the following:
A valid Class A, C, or D disabled permit
A qualifying Class B permit
What’s New for 2026
This year brings an exciting update to the schedule. On Oct. 10–11, the hunt will run statewide alongside the Youth Deer Hunt. During these two days, eligible hunters can hunt on public land—or any private property where they have permission—without needing the land to be enrolled in the sponsorship program. However, for the first seven days of the season (Oct. 3–9), hunters must still use a property that a registered sponsor has enrolled.
