Wisconsin had 5.7 days suitable for fieldwork statewide for the week ending June 7, 2026, according to the USDA’s
National Agricultural Statistics Service. With little precipitation early in the week, many farmers were able to wrap up
planting and make good progress harvesting alfalfa. Much-needed rain fell later in the week across much of the state.
Topsoil moisture condition rated 8 percent very short, 27 percent short, 62 percent adequate, and 3 percent surplus. Subsoil
moisture condition rated 5 percent very short, 21 percent short, 67 percent adequate, and 7 percent surplus.
Corn planting was 97 percent complete. Corn was 81 percent emerged matching the 5-year average. Corn condition was
79 percent good to excellent unchanged from last week. Soybean planting was 95 percent complete. Soybeans were 79
percent emerged compared to the average of 72 percent. Soybean condition was 79 percent good to excellent, down 1
percentage point from last week.
Oat were 88 percent emerged compared to the average of 87 percent. Oats were 17 percent headed. Oat condition was rated
79 percent good to excellent, up 2 percentage points from last week. Winter wheat fields were 53 percent headed matching
the average. Winter wheat began coloring in some parts of the state. Winter wheat condition was 68 percent good to
excellent, up 2 percentage points from last week.
The first cutting of alfalfa hay was 70 percent complete compared to the average of 63 percent. All hay condition was 69
percent good to excellent, up 1 percentage point from last week.
Pasture and range condition was 61 percent good to excellent, up 3 percentage points from last week.
