
Kelly Herness has been hired as the administrative and political action coordinator at Wisconsin Farm Bureau Federation.
Herness will be responsible for overseeing the operations, communications and fundraising activities of the Volunteers for Agriculture® (VFA) Political Action Committee. She will also be directing the administrative and operational functions of the government relations department.
“As a past intern with Wisconsin Farm Bureau, we were impressed with Kelly’s professionalism, work ethic and enthusiasm for Wisconsin agriculture,” said WFBF Executive Director of Government Relations Jason Mugnaini. “We are excited to welcome her back to the organization in this full-time role.”
Herness is a recent graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She majored in agricultural and applied economics and life sciences communication. She also received a certificate in public policy. Herness interned with the Wisconsin Farm Bureau Federation and with U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin’s office. Herness is also a former Alice in Dairyland top candidate.
“I am thrilled to be back on staff full-time at Wisconsin Farm Bureau and look forward to using my passion for agriculture and policy communications to support the organization’s grassroots efforts,” Herness said. “It is an honor to join such a talented team of advocates for Wisconsin agriculture.”
Herness was raised on a dairy and crop farm in western Wisconsin. Additionally, she was involved with Collegiate Farm Bureau and the Association of Women in Agriculture.
Herness began her duties as the Administrative and Political Action Coordinator on June 4.
