Do you know that person in your community who is always going above and beyond? The one who shows up when there’s work to be done, funds to be raised or a new initiative in need of a leader? That person who just came to mind? We want to celebrate them!
Compeer Financial is launching its new Rural Champions campaign, a regional initiative celebrating individuals making a meaningful impact in rural communities across Illinois, Minnesota and Wisconsin.
Beginning May 25, 2026, community members can nominate local leaders who demonstrate outstanding service, leadership, commitment to agriculture and dedication to rural vitality. Nominees may include farmers, educators, students, small business owners, volunteers and other community advocates.
Three Rural Champions — one from each state — will be selected based on community engagement, leadership, connection to agriculture and overall contributions to rural communities. Winners will receive recognition during a Big Ten university football game, a trip to the 2026 Big Ten Football Championship Game and a $5,000 donation to the nonprofit organization of their choice.
Nomination Period: May 25 – July 17, 2026
Eligibility: Residents of Illinois, Minnesota or Wisconsin age 18 and older
