Beef Checkoff Reaches Next Generation Of Foodservice Professionals

At the recent Wisconsin ProStart Invitational, high school students showcased their culinary talents. Among the 12 participating schools, five featured beef in their three-course meals. Teams had to prepare the courses in just 60 minutes.

Brady Weiland, a beef and dairy producer from Columbus, and a Wisconsin Beef Council director, served as a judge. He was impressed by the creativity and skill of the young chefs.

“Everything was pretty incredible,” Weiland says regarding the high level of competition. “I would definitely go to any of these students’ restaurants in the future.”

The Wisconsin Beef Council sponsored the Best Beef Entrée award, which was presented to Westosha Central High School for their New York strip dish. For the council, participating in events like ProStart is a strategic investment in the long-term future of the industry.

“If we can get them to incorporate beef in their menus today, that hopefully will influence their future menus in the years to come,” Weiland explains.

By engaging with the next generation of culinary leaders, the Wisconsin Beef Council continues its mission to promote beef consumption and support producers across the state. Learn more: beeftips.com
