Russell Kottke, a Fox Lake farmer, will be inducted into the Beaver Dam Unified School District’s Wall of Fame as an Outstanding Alumnus. He joins others in this recognition including, Fred McMurray, actor, Dr. Robert Ehlenfeld, Wisconsin State Veterinarian, and Ray Kuehl, Holstein Association, leader.
Kottke is a 1974 graduate of Beaver Dam High School. He will be recognized for his outstanding service and leadership to the community. Kottke served on the Dodge County Board of Supervisors for 25 years and as Board Chairman for 18 years. He has also been the Town of Trenton Board Chairman.
Always committed to agricultural youth, Russ has served as president and treasurer of the Beaver Dam Agribusiness Association/FFA Alumni. He has served in the position for nearly 30 years. He received the Honorary FFA Chapter Degree for his service. As a Friend of Dodge County 4-H, Russ has judged speaking contests and assisted in County Fair activities. He served on the Dairy Promotion Committee, Fairest of the Fair Selection Committee and the Alice in Dairyland Finals Committee.
Russ served on the Flyway Mutual Insurance Company Board of Directors. Additionally, he is the Secretary-Treasurer of the Fox Lake Community Fire Association.
Kottke’s commitment to community service and leadership began in his high school years. “My FFA Advisor, Mr. Meinke, told us that we that we needed to get involved, and as the FFA Creed states; ‘do our part in that inspiring task’.”
Retired from milking Jerseys, Russ continues to raise steers.
