WI Cheese Shines At Dairy Expo Championship

Wisconsin’s storied cheesemaking tradition once again proved its world-class reputation at the 2025 World Dairy Expo Championship Dairy Product Contest, sponsored by the Wisconsin Dairy Products Association.

The national competition judged more than 96 product classes, spanning cheese, butter, yogurt, ice cream, gelato, cottage cheese, milk, sour cream, and whey.

This year’s Cheese and Butter Grand Champion was a Vanilla Mascarpone crafted by Lake Country Dairy – Schuman Cheese in Turtle Lake, Wisconsin.

Overall, Wisconsin cheesemakers dominated the field, securing more than half — 52.3 percent — of all cow’s milk cheese awards presented. Schuman Cheese led the way with 12 wins, followed by Crave Brothers Farmstead Cheese, Associated Milk Producers Inc., and Marieke Gouda, each with five awards.

Land O’Lakes, Sartori Company, and Widmer’s Cheese Cellars earned four awards apiece, while Foremost Farms USA Cooperative, Kingston Creamery, Nasonville Dairy, and Ron’s Wisconsin Cheese/Ponderosa Farmstead each collected three.

Additional honors went to Masters Gallery Foods and Organic Valley with two awards each, and Prairie Farms Cheese Division, Pine River Pre-Pack, and Roth Cheese with one award apiece.
