WFU & Wisconsin Agroforestry Network Hosts At Good Trouble Grove

The Wisconsin Agroforestry Demonstration Farm Network (Savanna Institute and NRCS-WI) and Wisconsin Farmers Union (WFU) invite farmers, land stewards, and community members to gather in Green Lake, WI, on Tuesday, July 29, for an inspiring, tree-focused event at Good Trouble Grove, the agroecological home of WFU members Shelly Rothman and Jorg Diekmann. This event offers a full afternoon and evening of hands-on learning, good food, and meaningful connections in the spirit of land stewardship and perennial agriculture.

Event Schedule:

  • 3:00 PM – Starting Trees From Seed: An In-Depth Workshop
  • 5:00 PM – Potluck Dinner & Community Connection (guests are welcome to bring a side dish to share)
  • 6:30 PM – Silvopasture Farm Walk: Holistic Management in Action
    • Learn how Shelly and Jorg integrate livestock, trees, and pasture on their working farm. The tour will highlight regenerative practices, grazing, and the thoughtful design behind silvopasture systems.

Anyone interested in learning about agroforestry or connecting with agroforestry farmers is welcome to come! Children are also welcome to attend with adult supervision.

This event is made possible by the Wisconsin Agroforestry Demonstration Farm Network, a collaboration between the Savanna Institute and NRCS-WI, and co-sponsored by Wisconsin Farmers Union.

“We’re excited to welcome folks out to Good Trouble Grove. Our silvopasture farm is a great example of a different kind of agriculture, perennial agriculture, that benefits both the ecosystem and local community. We hope folks leave with a sense of what is possible and feeling more connected to the land and one another!” – Shelly Rothman
