American Agri-Women has announced the recipients of the 2025 Champion of Agriculture Award — Wisconsin Congressman Derrick Van Orden was among them.
Since 1974, AAW members have worked together to educate consumers, advocate for agriculture, and offer networking and professional development opportunities. The Champion of Agriculture Award, established by AAW in 2010, honors members of Congress who demonstrate exceptional leadership in promoting American agriculture, defending rural values, and upholding the U.S. Constitution. Each year, the award recognizes two members of the U.S. House of Representatives for their outstanding contributions to ag policy.
“This year’s honorees exemplify the spirit of bipartisan advocacy for agriculture,” says AAW President Rose Tryon. “Their steadfast leadership has made a lasting impact on farmers, ranchers, and rural families across the country.”
Rep. Van Orden, elected to represent Wisconsin’s 3rd District in 2022, is a retired Navy SEAL Senior Chief and a voice for fiscal responsibility and rural America. As a member of the House Agriculture Committee, he has prioritized the needs of farmers and veterans alike, says AAW.
“His commitment to national service and rural communities exemplifies the values American Agri-Women seeks to honor with this award,” the organization said.
AAW members from across the country gathered in Washington last week for the organization’s annual Fly-In, where they met with legislators, agency officials, and policymakers to advocate for issues impacting American agriculture. The awards were presented during the fly-in. The other recipient of the 2025 Champion of Agriculture Award is Congressman Jim Costa of California’s 21st District.
