Summer Field Days Return Across Wisconsin

Summer is the season for field days at UW–Madison’s College of Agricultural and Life Sciences (CALS). These public events take place at Agricultural Research Stations across the state. They offer educational experiences for farmers, home gardeners, as well as others interested in agriculture.

Each event shares research updates and expert insights. Participants can explore new ideas, network with others, and ask questions. A complete, updated list of field days is available at cals.wisc.edu/extension-outreach/ars-events.

Upcoming Field Days Include:

  • Hancock Potato Field Day
    Thursday, July 10, 1:00 p.m. — Hancock Agricultural Research Station, Hancock
    Includes field tours, potato research updates, and also a BBQ dinner. Contact: [email protected].
  • UW Forage and Cover Crops Field Day
    Tuesday, July 15, 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. — Arlington Agricultural Research Station, Arlington
    Features expert-led talks and field demonstrations on forages and cover crops. Details at: cropsandsoils.extension.wisc.edu.
  • Wisconsin Turfgrass Association Summer Field Day
    Tuesday, August 5, 9:00 a.m. — O.J. Noer Turfgrass Facility, Verona
    Focuses on lawn care, turf management, and golf course topics. Event also includes lunch and a trade show. Contact: [email protected].
  • Commercial Growers of Wisconsin Field Day
    Thursday, August 7, 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. — West Madison Agricultural Research Station, Verona
    Covers plant diseases, insect updates, and flower garden tours. Contact: [email protected].
  • Twilight Garden Tour
    Thursday, August 21, 4:00 p.m. – dusk — Spooner Agricultural Research Station, Spooner
    Offers garden tours, demos, and a chance to ask local experts questions. Contact: [email protected].
  • Hemp Field Day
    Thursday, August 21, 8:00 a.m. — Arlington Agricultural Research Station, Arlington
    Shares the latest UW research on hemp. Contact: [email protected] or [email protected].
  • Pollinator and Land Management Day
    Thursday, August 21, 4:00 p.m. — Peninsular Agricultural Research Station, Sturgeon Bay
    Event details are coming soon. Check online for updates.
  • UW Organic Research Field Day
    Tuesday, August 26, 9:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. — Arlington Agricultural Research Station, Arlington
    Covers organic farming topics like reduced tillage as well as crop health. Learn more at: ograin.cals.wisc.edu.
  • UW–Madison Agronomy and Soils Field Day
    Wednesday, August 27, 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. — Arlington Agricultural Research Station, Arlington
    Features field trials and updates on soil, crops, weed control, and also economics. Contact: [email protected].
