Wisconsin Women in Conservation (WiWiC) is hosting a special event on Thursday, June 26 from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. This free event will take place at W8957 Goat Back Rd, Pepin, the prairie land of conservationist Sally Farrar. Women landowners, farmers, gardeners, and conservation professionals are invited to attend and connect with one another. The event includes a prairie tour, potluck lunch, and time for networking around shared interests in land care and stewardship.
Sally Farrar, a WiWiC Conservation Coach, owns 72 acres of mixed prairie, forest, and open land in Pepin County. She began restoring prairie after learning from her neighbor and has since expanded her efforts to support pollinators. Sally believes conservation can become a meaningful, rewarding part of everyday life and personal fulfillment. During the tour, guests will walk mowed trails as Sally shares tips on seeding, burning, and supporting prairie wildlife. Attendees will learn about native grasses, flowers, pollinators, and grassland birds that prairies help sustain.
After the walk, participants will enjoy a potluck meal and share ideas and stories with fellow conservation-minded women. WiWiC encourages participants to bring a dish or beverage to share with the group.
