The 96th Wisconsin FFA Convention is starting this week and it kicks off with the annual day of service put on by the Wisconsin Association of FFA.
Over 900 student volunteers from across the state gathered at the Alliant Energy Center before heading out to serve at various offsite locations. Student volunteers helped with nine different service projects, such as cleaning outdoor spaces and parks, working at the Ronald McDonald house, packaging meals, and building bed frames.
The FFA worked with other organizations such as Sleep in Heavenly Peace, where students helped make 60 beds to give to those in need in the Madison community. Students also worked with Meals from the Heartland, packaging more than 100,000 meals to be distributed for disaster relief and children in need.
“We’re just very excited about the amount of involvement we’ve had,” says FFA Day of Service manager Amelia Hayden. “This year will be our largest day of service ever so we are very excited to have so many students engaged and excited and living out that FFA motto: living to serve”.
