The Make America Healthy Again Commission report put out by Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Secretary of the Health and Human Service Agency has gotten not only the attention of U.S. agriculture but also some angry responses. The report makes many accusations about the safety or lack thereof of pesticides and herbicides used by American farmers that farm groups say are not based on any scientific evidence but only on claims and opinions of the HHS Secretary. American Farm Bureau president Zippy Duval says the report is deeply troubling as it “sows seeds of doubt and fear” about the U.S. food system. Even the Republican leaders of the House and Senate Agriculture Committees issued a joint statement that said they were troubled by the initial findings of the MAHA report and their impact on America’s farmers and ranchers. A statement from the National Corn Growers was also critical and concerned by the report as they said it is filled with fear based on claims and opinions rather than science based information about pesticides.
