2025 Class Of Master Cheesemakers Announced

The Center for Dairy Research (CDR) and Dairy Farmers of Wisconsin (DFW) are excited to announce the 2025 graduating class of the Wisconsin Master Cheesemaker® program. This year’s class includes seven new and two returning Master cheesemakers.

“Each new class of graduates confirms the value of the Master Cheesemaker program to our state and the Wisconsin dairy industry.” said John Jaeggi, program coordinator. “The Wisconsin Master Cheesemaker® program is the only one of its kind in the United States, which further strengthens Wisconsin’s reputation as the premier cheesemaking state.”

The Graduating Class

  • Ken Carothers with Agropur, Little Chute. Certified Master of Mozzarella
  • Robert Garves with LaClare Creamery, Malone. Certified Master of Chèvre
  • Michael Green with Arena Cheese, Arena. Certified Master of Gouda
  • Marieke Penterman with Marieke Gouda, Thorpe. Certified Master of Gouda
  • John Schmid with Nasonville Dairy, Marshfield. Certified Master of Cheddar and Monterey Jack
  • Rob Stellrecht with Burnett Dairy Cooperative, Grantsburg. Certified Master of Cheddar and Mozzarella
  • Jeremy Werdeo with Sartori, Plymouth. Certified Master of Cheddar and Parmesan
  • Ken Kane with Sartori, Plymouth. Certified Master of Asiago and Cheddar
  • Gerard Knaus with Weyauwega Star Dairy, Weyauwega. Certified master of Gouda and Havarti
