Experienced and New Voices Join DATCP Board

Governor Tony Evers has announced new leadership for the DATCP Board, effective May 2, 2025.

Cindy Brown has been reappointed to the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) Board. Andy Hatch has been appointed as a new member of the board, bringing fresh perspective to the group.

Brown has spent her career supporting agriculture, especially the pulse industry. Pulses include beans, peas, and lentils. She has helped grow global markets for pulses, expand exports, and also support healthy, sustainable food systems. Brown is also known for encouraging women in agriculture by serving in top roles in trade organizations. She led Chippewa Valley Bean for 14 years and now serves as Chair of the Board.

“Ms. Brown is engaged and knowledgeable,” said DATCP Secretary Randy Romanski. “I look forward to continuing our work together.”

Hatch was born in Wisconsin and studied Dairy Science at the University of Wisconsin. He learned cheesemaking by working with experts across Europe, including in Norway, France, and England. He returned home to run Uplands Cheese in Dodgeville, where he milks cows and makes award-winning cheeses.

“Mr. Hatch brings valuable experience,” added Secretary Romanski. “I look forward to working with him on the DATCP Board.”

The DATCP Board helps guide state programs that support farmers, protect consumers, as well as promote fair business practices.
