The Blessing of the Tractors is back for a third year. Mark your calendar for April 12 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Jefferson.
“The Blessing of the Tractors is a celebration of agriculture and the people who are a part of it,” says event organizer Dale Gaugert.
The Blessing of the Tractors began in 2013 to invite people who otherwise may not have been aware of the church community. Gaugert was making a living in agriculture and thought the big tractors would be a draw. He rebooted the event in 2024, and this year, added a community gathering in the church after the event with coffee and sweets.
Farmers should bring their tractors to the church by 8:45 a.m. Aspiring farmers and their push or pedal tractors are welcome and encouraged!
“We are reminded that all our roots run through a farm, and for that reason, we hope anyone will come to the blessing to see what families are farming in Jefferson County,” says Gaugert.
This year, each tractor will have a sign on it indicating the family and years they have been farming.
“It’s a great opportunity to uplift the ‘Faith of a Farmer’ who puts one’s trust in God and Mother Nature to bring life to tiny seeds planted each spring,” says blessing host Pastor Raiford. “With 7,000 people working in an agriculture-related industry in Jefferson County, we hope the community will come out to see the big equipment and the big hearts who power it.”
