This is according to the USDA, National Agricultural Statistics Service – Vegetables 2024 Summary. Fresh market production totaled 98,500 cwt and was valued at $10.8 million. Processing production accounted for 209,059 tons and had a total value of $27.2 million. Wisconsin ranked first in production of snap beans with 40 percent of the nation’s production. U.S. snap bean production totaled 10.7 million cwt.
There were 52,000 acres of sweet corn harvested in Wisconsin with a total production of 8.58 million cwt. Fresh market production accounted for 686,400 cwt with a total value of $28.4 million. Production of sweet corn for processing totaled 394,251 tons and was valued at $33.9 million. Wisconsin ranked third for sweet corn production with 16 percent of the nation’s production. U.S. sweet corn production totaled 52.7 million cwt.
Green pea production in Wisconsin totaled 846,400 cwt from 20,200 harvested acres and was valued at $12.3 million. Fresh market production totaled 800 cwt for a total value of $172,000. The 42,278 tons of processing green pea production had a value of $12.1 million. Green pea production in the U.S. totaled 4.50 million cwt. There were 3,000 acres of beets harvested in Wisconsin in 2024 with a total value of production of $4.99 million. Cabbage production in 2024 totaled 2.45 million cwt with a total value of production of $47.0 million. There were 6,800 acres of cucumbers harvested in 2024 with a total value of production of $15.8 million. Wisconsin farmers harvested 3,100 of pumpkins in 2024 with a total value of production of $8.61 million.
