Applications will open Feb. 3 for a new round of Dairy Business Builder grants administered by the Dairy Business Innovation Alliance.
Small- to medium-sized dairy farmers, manufacturers, and processors in 11 states, including Wisconsin, may apply for the funding. The Center for Dairy Research and Wisconsin Cheese Makers Association administers the money.
The reimbursement grants of up to $100,000 each aim to support recipients in diversifying on-farm activity, creating value-added products, enhancing byproducts, and creating or enhancing export programs.
“Since the creation of DBIA, we’ve seen many innovative proposals that have advanced farm and processing businesses, brought new products to market, and bolstered the Midwest dairy industry overall,” says WCMA Executive Director John Umhoefer.
Application materials for the Dairy Business Builder grants are available online now at DBIA’s brand-new website: https://dbia.wisc.edu/. The new site features a complete overhaul of the program’s logo and branding, complete details on the grant programs and technical assistance, and compelling stories of business growth and innovation from past grant recipients.
Prospective DBIA applicants are encouraged to join an informational webinar hosted by DBIA staff at 1 p.m. on Feb. 5. Applications are due by 5 p.m. on April 2. Successful applicants will be notified by late May.
“These funds will help small dairy businesses grow and innovate, which is critical for their success in today’s ever-changing markets,” says CDR Director John Lucey.
