Making Genetic Tracking Simple for Every Dairy Farm

Dairy farmers now have a powerful new way to enhance their genetic programs with an innovative embryo tracking system. This technology simplifies managing embryo inventory and tracking genetic data, enabling farmers to improve herd performance efficiently. It’s called the embryo inventory module

Melissa Freitas, West & Northeast FPC Team Leader for  VAS, emphasizes how this tool fills a crucial gap in data management. “Farmers need a reliable way to record and analyze genetic data,” Freitas explains. “This module consolidates everything—from embryo inventory to calf performance—into one easy-to-use system.”

Traditionally, farmers relied on paper or multiple tools for tracking embryos, transfers, and genetic results. This fragmented approach made it difficult to analyze performance and optimize breeding decisions. Freitas highlights, “Instead of writing everything down and re-entering it later, farmers can now log data directly, saving time and reducing errors.”

Farmers can record details such as the donor, recipient, and transfer results. This streamlined process ensures data is always accessible, enabling informed decisions about breeding strategies. Freitas adds, “With this system, you can determine quickly if a donor or calf meets your farm’s genetic goals.”

The benefits are significant for all farm sizes, whether managing ten cows or ten thousand. “Every farm has unique goals for genetics,” says Freitas. “This tool helps farmers hit their targets, whether focused on milk production or specific traits.”

Additionally, the module delivers quick returns on investment. Freitas notes, “In just two months, farmers see results. They catch cows that need attention sooner, improving reproduction rates and efficiency.”

The integration of genetic data into daily operations empowers farmers with actionable insights. Freitas concludes, “This tool is about being proactive, not reactive. When you have data at your fingertips, you can make smarter, faster decisions for your herd.”
