By now if you’re listening to the Farm Report regularly, you’ve heard our guests tell you how easy and how important it is to become a rainfall reporter. But did you know that help to get set up as a rainfall reporter can be local? Matt Brown is a CoCoRahs county leader in Sheboygan. He volunteers his time to help other local reporters get set up and answer questions.
Matt Brown has been a CoCoRahs volunteer for over 7 years. He has enjoyed his time volunteering so much that he took on the added role of being a local coordinator in Sheboygan County. From his home in Cedar Grove he reports his daily precipitation or lack of, recruits new volunteers and helps existing volunteers in his area to collect accurate data. He says that only about half of the volunteers in his area report regularly and that’s one more reason it’s so important to have many people submitting data.
March is wrapping up and we are making one more big push to sign up rainfall reporters with CoCoRahs. If our stories this month from volunteers and meteorologists wasn’t enough to convince you, maybe this will. With a bit of friendly competition between states, currently Minnesota is in the lead for new volunteers. Visit wisconsinweatherwatchers.org to get signed up!
