Deidra Meyer of Amery is one of the latest recipients of the American Agri-Women Foundation’s Daughters of American Agriculture Scholarships.
The foundation, which is part of American Agri-Women, a national coalition of farm, ranch and agribusiness women, promotes educational and leadership programs and opportunities relevant to agriculture. These $1,000 scholarships are available to any farm, ranch or agribusiness woman or her daughter to pursue accredited courses directly related to agriculture.
Meyer received the Jean Ibendahl Scholarship for a high school graduate — those 18-23 years old.
She plans to graduate from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities in agriculture communications, marketing and business. She wants to be a professional parliamentarian and seek a career as a professional agricultural consultant. This young lady has an impressive resume of honors and awards, which are too numerous to mention. She has excelled in Parliamentary Procedure and is an Accredited Parliamentarian, a member of the Society of Agriculture Education Parliamentarians, and a member of the American Institute of Parliamentarians. As a dedicated FFA member, these are just a few ways Deidra has shown her success, hard work, leadership, and citizenship in her activities.
The other scholarship winner was Kestlyn Willert of Aurora, South Dakota. She got the Sister Thomas More Bertels Continuing Education Scholarship — for those 24 years or older. Following her undergraduate education in ag communications, marketing and animal science at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, Willert plans to attend law school or complete a master’s in an ag-related area of study.
2023 SCHOLARSHIP IS NOW OPEN
The American Agri-Women Foundation is now accepting applications for the 2023 Daughters of American Agriculture Scholarships. The deadline is March 1.
The Jean Ibendahl Scholarship (for ages 18-23) and the Sister Thomas More Bertels Scholarship (for ages 24+) honors the memory of these courageous and adventurous women who played an essential role in serving and leading and who encouraged agricultural pursuits.
These scholarships are available to any farm, ranch, or agri-business woman to pursue accredited courses in agriculture leadership, communications, rural sociology, medicine or other college-level studies directly related to agriculture.
