Farm Wisconsin Discovery Center hosts its third STEM Week, Tuesday, December 27 through Thursday, December 29, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm each day. The family-friendly activities offered at this event will be focused around agriculture science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
“We know families are looking for additional options when the kids have winter break and friends and relatives visit for the holidays,” says Patty Lehn, Farm Wisconsin’s executive director. “We’re pleased to provide this fun option on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.”
STEM Week will consist of three days of activities, such as a virtual reality tour of a Wisconsin cheese plant, making biodegradable plastic from corn, and barn engineering. Visitors can also harvest potatoes, see the inside of a bone through a microscope, and learn about how pigs are identified.
In addition, STEM Week will have rotating activities each day provided by the following organizations: Lakeshore Technical College, Wisconsin Beef Council, Insight FS, LaClare Family Creamery, Bayland Buildings, CentralStar Cooperative, and Manitowoc County Farm Bureau.
“We’re thrilled for this opportunity to showcase the science behind how beef cattle are raised and the importance of beef in a balanced diet.” says Kaitlyn Riley, director of communication and outreach for Wisconsin Beef Council. “It’s our pleasure to once again join Farm Wisconsin Discovery Center for this fun way to highlight STEM in agriculture.”
Access to this event will be included in the price of regular Farm Wisconsin admission. Purchase admission ahead of time, here: https://securepayment.link/farmwisconsin/general-admission/. The center will be open 9:00 am to 4:00 pm each day of STEM Week and the Wisconsin Café will offer breakfast and lunch, 8:00 am to 2:30 pm.
