PDPW and Pheasants Forever Team Up

Pheasants Forever isn’t just about hunting. And Professional Dairy Producers of Wisconsin isn’t just about milking cows. Recently these two organizations have developed a partnership, promoting on farm conservation and sustainability practices that also make sense to a farmers bottom line.

Josh Bendorff grew up on a Wisconsin dairy farm and now serves as the Precision Ag Specialist with Pheasants Forever. He shares how his background growing up as a dairy farm kid has helped him to see the balance between creating habitat for wildlife and pollinators and sound economic decisions for farmers.

The partnership between Pheasants Forever and Professional Dairy Producers of Wisconsin sprouted after Shelly Mayer, Executive Director of PDPW and representatives from Pheasants Forever both attended an event at Miltrim Farm. That event showcased the farm’s 40 acre pollinator plot, and it sparked a discussion on how other dairy farms could utilize their marginal land in a similar way.

Josh Bendorff, Pheasants Forever presents at a recent PDPW ACE Twilight Meeting.

As partners, PDPW and Pheasants Forever will work to bring learning opportunities and resources to dairy farmers who want to take on more diverse sustainably practices.
