The Wisconsin DNR has kicked off a campaign aimed to make folks aware of the variety of outdoor opportunities available across Wisconsin. The ‘Out Wi Go’ initiative ultimately has the goal of helping people to “find your adventure”.
Preston D. Cole is the Secretary of the Wisconsin DNR. He shares more about ‘Out Wi Go’ and explains the importance of Wisconsin’s state parks for individuals and the state as a whole.
Sec. Cole explains that Wisconsin has 49 state parks, 15 state forests, and even more natural areas. He adds that the ‘Out Wi Go’ campaign is working to show Wisconsinites and visitors to the state that there is something for everyone to experience.
Sec. Cole also comments on state park traffic this summer, saying that they’re busy 24/7. Although visitor numbers aren’t as high as pandemic numbers, which broke records, Sec. Cole says that it’s important for numbers to be “more normal” and that he’s glad so many visitors had a chance to better their mental health by visiting parks during the pandemic.
“Finding your spot, finding your nature, finding the outdoors here in the state of Wisconsin is a big deal for us,” adds Sec. Cole. “We have something for everyone, and that’s that ‘Out Wi Go’ perspective.”
