The Wisconsin State Fair Dairy Promotion Board plans to sell all first place entries from the Dairy Products Contest at the Blue Ribbon Dairy Products Auction on Aug. 11.
The proceeds from the auction are used to help fund scholarships for students pursuing careers in the dairy industry, dairy education at the State Fair (Dairy Lane, daily milking demonstrations), and junior dairy exhibitor recognition.
Dairy manufacturers from throughout the state submitted over 300 entries for the 2022 Wisconsin State Fair Dairy Products Contest, which took place June 23 at the Wisconsin State Fair Park, says coordinator Ann Schulz. The contest featured over 40 classes for cheese, sour cream, butter, yogurt and milk.
The 2022 Grand Master Cheesemaker, Grand Champion Butter, Grand Champion Yogurt, Grand Champion Sour Cream and Grand Champion Milk will be announced at the Blue Ribbon Dairy Products Auction on Aug. 11 at Wisconsin State Fair Park.
Last year, the auction set a record of $50,000 with roughly 25-30 lots on the auction block. There will be 28 auction lots this year.
The auction takes place during the State Fair at the Saz’s Hospitality Village on the south end of the fair park. To get involved with the auction, email [email protected].
