County fairs are a great time to thank and celebrate leaders in the community. Rock County 4-H Fair is no exception, and this year they have a special focus on honoring our veterans.
Abbey Gasser is the Treasurer for the Rock County 4-H Fair. She shares more about the events taking place on Thursday, July 28th to honor the community’s veterans.
Gasser says that the fair has always had a day where veterans could get free admission to the fair. However, this year the fair board decided to take that a step further and incorporate even more activities that would honor the veterans.
The idea was developed in part when it was decided that Craig Morgan would play at the fair on Thursday night. He served 17 years in the Army, so Gasser believed that it would be fitting to tie his concert and the fair’s “Veterans Day” together.
On Thursday, July 28th, veterans will receive free admission to the fair. In addition to that, 5 local veterans were nominated and selected to be recognized before the Craig Morgan concert. There will also be a 50/50 raffle to help benefit the Edgerton VFW.
These are all events that Gasser hopes will become tradition and continue year after year.
