County fairs pose the perfect opportunity for learning, and Extension works to ensure that exhibitors and fairgoers have a wide variety of options for expanding their knowledge.
Green County Extension has put in many hours of planning and preparation to provide learning experiences for the exhibitors at Green County Fair. Between the Herdsmanship contest, the Premiere Exhibitor competition, and the Master Show, Extension has given fairgoers many ways to showcase their knowledge and learn from each other at the fair.
Ellen Andrews is the 4-H Youth Development Coordinator for Green County Extension. She shares more about how education is not only a goal during the fair, but year-round.
“We just want to further engage youth in the learning experience,” Andrews says of the exhibitor competitions. “It just rounds out their showing experience.”
Andrews goes on to mention that Extension helps 4-H members to learn leadership and citizenship skills throughout the year. Although the fair is a culmination of their year, she says that Extension is working to hold events and provide hands-on experiences throughout the year to help members find their interests.
