Diane Runde Morgan of Janeville Craig High School has been awarded the Outstanding Agricultural Education Teacher Award from the Wisconsin Association of Agricultural Educators (WAAE). This prestigious award was presented at the WAAE Professional Development Conference held June 26-30, 2022 at Radisson in La Crosse, WI.
The Outstanding Educator Award recognizes teachers who conduct the highest quality agricultural education programs. These individuals provide excellent classroom experiences, community and professional service and are lifelong learners. Congratulations to Diane Runde Morgan!
With over 355 ag students and FFA members in the Janesville Craig program, Diane’s philosophy is that students learn best when they experience the curriculum and can see the real-world connections from what is learned in the classroom to their everyday life. For 33 years with the last 25 in Janesville, Diane credits one of her strongest partnerships with the FFA Alumni & Supporters. She has worked closely with the Janesville FFA Alumni to conduct a qualification CDE event each spring. This event has over 400 students competing in eight different contests.
Diane is a National Board Certified Teacher in Agriculture and Environmental Science, as well as she serves as a WAAE mentor for over 11 new agriculture teachers, along with her most recent role as the Wisconsin CDE coordinator. Her FFA members have earned numerous awards including National Proficiency finalists and 15 teams that have advanced to the National Land Evaluation Contest, to name a few of the many.
Always keeping the student’s needs as the focus of the lessons has been a top priority. Students thrive in agriculture courses when they are challenged with meaningful, hands-on lessons that relate directly to their future careers and community.
Congratulations Diane, on being named the 2022 Outstanding Agricultural Educator of the Wisconsin Association of Agricultural Educators.
