Technology is constantly evolving in the agriculture industry, and now the idea of autonomous farming machinery is becoming a reality. One French company is working to create and distribute fully autonomous agricultural robots that can do field work.
Christian Melendez is the Director of Sales in North America for Naio Technologies, and he shares more about how the electric robots work.
Melendez says that the company currently has 5 different models that can complete tasks anywhere from weeding around row crops to pushing animal feed. These robots are designed for small scale operations, and they typically work in 5 acre operations up to commercial vineyards. The company plans to soon reach 7 robot models.
The robots are fully electric, which will allow producers to cut back on fuel consumption. They also feature RTK GPS, which gives producers the ability to program their field information into the robot and send them out on their own. This navigation also allows for a high level of precision.
The company is currently based in France, but has recently began testing its equipment in California. Melendez shares that they hope to expand production to North America in the next year.
