State Representative Travis Tranel (R-Cuba City, WI) and his wife Stephanie (Steph) were recently asked by the American Council of Young Political Leaders (ACYPL) to host an international delegation of the U.S. State Department’s Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative Professional Fellows Program from Malaysia, Philippines, and Brunei.
The Tranel family gave the fellows a tour of their dairy farm in Cuba City. This was the first time anyone in the international group had visited an American farm. From there, Steph treated everyone to an old-fashioned American cookout where they enjoyed brats, burgers, and baked beans. To conclude the day, the group toured the scenic Potosi area on side-by-side outdoor recreational vehicles before tubing down the Grant River. On their way back to Madison, they made the traditional climb up the Platte Mound, home of the world’s biggest “M”.
“Steph and I were more than happy to host the delegates for the day. Anytime we have the opportunity to showcase the Driftless Area and US Agriculture on an international level, we are proud to do it,” says Rep. Tranel. “The group was very appreciative of the way everyone welcomed them and said Southwest Wisconsin now has a special place in their hearts.”
The distinguished group of fellows included:
Alameda Hajim Andong (Philippines) – Chief Budget and Management Specialist
Ministry of Finance, Budget and Management
Charlene Kur Mun See (Malaysia) – Senior Program Lead at UNDI18, a youth empowerment and civics organization.
Izzul Azam Mohd Roselan (Brunei) – Administrative Officer, Special Grade Public Service Department
