Tractor and machinery safety courses are in full swing for the summer, but the program is expecting to see some changes.
Heidi Johnson is the Agriculture Institute Director with UW-Extension. She outlines where the program is at now and what she hopes to see in the future.
Johnson says that Extension saw some shifts in staffing during the pandemic, and this affected how many courses can be taught through Extension. Moving forward, Extension plans to reach out to more partners across the state that can help teach their curriculum.
For the first time ever in the state, Extension is providing online offerings for the program that will include an in-person testing component. Johnson hopes to reach more youth across the state by including these online courses, and she would like to see them eventually become asynchronous.
