With well over 2,000 different breeds and styles of birds, there are endless color, size, and beauty options for exhibition poultry exhibitors.
Melissa Leonard-Flannery is the Pecatonica High School FFA Advisor and Ag Teacher, and the Iowa County Poultry Superintendent. She has also served as a judge for various exhibition poultry shows, earned a degree in Poultry Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and has been raising poultry since she was a child.
Melissa says that the poultry project is a great option for those with backyard flocks who are looking to get more involved, and for those who are interested in raising extravagant poultry from hatch on.
From feeding strategies, to special housing and feather care, Melissa explains what it takes to raise extravagant birds like the ones you see at County and State Fairs.
