The 93rd Wisconsin State FFA Convention is set to wrap up later today with the selection of the 2022-23 State FFA President, and installation of the new state officer team. In the meantime, Farm Director Pam Jahnke met with Cheryl Zimmerman, Wisconsin FFA Executive Director, to talk about membership involvement and convention numbers for this year.
Zimmerman says in her eyes, she believes this year’s state convention will be a record breaking year. Students are getting back into the swing of things, and she’s noticed they are wanting to participate in more events again.
Not only did they see record numbers at the state convention, she also says FFA membership statewide has skyrocketed this year. Wisconsin FFA has reached over 23,000 members, an over 3,000 member increase from last year.
While numbers are climbing, she says that also draws attention to the need for agriculture teachers and FFA advisors across the state.
Cheryl is also serving as the Interim Chair and National Advisor for the National FFA Board of Directors.
