June Dairy Month is just around the corner, and people across the state are preparing for a month-long celebration of Wisconsin dairy farmers and their wonderful products. While that celebration is enjoyed by many, there are some families who do not have the opportunity to enjoy Wisconsin dairy products.
Kris Tazelaar, Director of Marketing and Communications for Second Harvest Foodbank, explains the Adopt-A-Dairy Cow program that Second Harvest Foodbank is holding again this June Dairy Month. The program allows donors to select a cow whose milk they would like to sponsor and donate.
This year, for the first time, the first $30,000 in donations will be matched by the Werndli Charitable Fund and Alliant Energy Foundation. These donations will help provide milk to local food pantries so that area families can enjoy Wisconsin dairy and participate in the celebration of June Dairy Month.
