Satellite images and machine learning have transformed business for the entire agriculture industry. However, one company has utilized these technologies to combine interests and serve the agri-finance industry.
Jim O’Brien, co-founder and CEO of Agrograph, shares how the Wisconsin-based company captures satellite imagery and gathers data to build profiles for ag lenders and insurers to assess.
The data gathered by Agrograph can generate a risk score for the client and provides banks with a snapshot of the customer’s risk. O’Brien sees this risk score as a credit score for agriculture.
O’Brien says that the goal of their work is to create a platform of data that can be standardized and easily exchanged. They work to help create a more efficient cost structure for the customer and end user.
Agrograph is located in Middleton, but has a national focus. O’Brien says they hope to focus on Wisconsin lenders and insurers in the near future.
