Wisconsin State Parks are a popular destination for the state’s residents and visitors, who saw a major spike in visitors during the pandemic.
Steve Schmelzer, Director of the Bureau of Parks and Recreation Management for the Wisconsin DNR, says they are expecting the post-pandemic attendance to be similar. In fact, campgrounds are 99% booked for Memorial Day weekend, and are filling fast throughout the summer.
The Wisconsin DNR is working actively to make sure they have enough staff to operate at full capacity this summer, and also working to ensure campgrounds and other facilities are up to date.
