Yahara Pride Farms (YPF) will hold its annual Watershed-Wide conference on March 3 at the Comfort Inn and Suites in DeForest.
More than 100 farmers, agribusiness professionals and community members are expected to attend this free educational event. The public is welcome to attend.
The event will showcase speakers on a variety of topics in modern sustainable agriculture. Experts from within the Yahara watershed and across the state will share information that can be applied to farms locally and beyond.
Dr. Marilia Chiavegato, assistant professor of horticulture and crop science, at the Ohio State University will kick off the morning by sharing information about greenhouse gasses and where they come from. In the afternoon, Dr. Chiavegato will speak on what is being done to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Tony Peirick, chairman of the Dodge County Farmers for Healthy Soil and Healthy Waters, will share information about planting green – tips, tricks and lessons he has learned using this technique on his home farm.
YPF’s friends from Yahara WINS will give a partner update, and Yahara Pride Farms resource manager Dennis Frame will update farmers on current programs.
In addition to presentations, the event will include lunch sponsored by Compeer Financial and a snack break sponsored by Endres Insurance.
