FarmFirst Unveils 2022 Priorities

Julie Sweney, head of communications at FarmFirst Dairy Cooperative, says that as winter district meetings wrap up and we head into the new year, now is the time for members to voice their industry related concerns to the cooperative. Some of which have revolved around the ongoing pandemic, new policies and dairy markets.

Coming off of a time where the pandemic has been on everyone’s mind, dairy producers are now wondering what the future holds. FarmFirst Dairy Cooperative advocates for these producers at home and on Capitol Hill through policy advocacy, dairy marketing services, and industry promotion.

Dairy labeling is of those concerns coming from Wisconsin producers, which has actively been discussed in state and federal legislature. Sweney says that although Wisconsin is in support of enforcing the existing definition of dairy products, there is still a lot of work to be done with federal milk marketing order reform.

FarmFirst, in addition to policy advocacy, is committed to investing in the future of the industry through scholarship programs, which are available until March of 2022. More information can be found on their website at https://www.farmfirstdairycooperative.com/
