The North American Intercollegiate Dairy Challenge is coming to Wisconsin, and will be hosted by The Midwest Region, UW-Madison, and Fox Valley Technical College in Green Bay, WI March 31-April 2, 2022.
UW-Madison Dairy Management faculty associate and NAIDC committee member Ted Halbach says this annual event gives students an opportunity to assess a farms management, apply business thinking, and present their evaluations to farm owners and a panel of judges. The event takes a student's education and applies it to a real world situation on farms across the U.S..
Dairy Challenge also gives producers and industry professionals a chance to grow the next generation through volunteer roles such as leading educational seminars, guiding students around farms, and assisting as a mentor through the Dairy Academy. Halbach says that through this experience, students are more prepared and knowledgeable, and are better prepared to serve the industry in the future.
