This is a series summer intern, Michelle Stangler, has launched looking for advice and insights for students interested in Wisconsin Agriculture.
Kelsey Erf, Communications Intern at World Dairy Expo, says “When the opportunity to intern at World Dairy Expo came up, it was an opportunity I could not pass up on.” She can be seen writing press releases, helping with social media, and creating show related materials.
Erf wants to stay involved in agriculture since she finds great satisfaction in it as dairy she says, “supplies those nutritious and delicious dairy products!”
“We get to know about events that are happening before anyone else” Erf says. One opportunity she is proud of that will be at World Dairy Expo this fall is the career connections event. Erf explains, “It’s really similar to a job fair where dairy companies in the trade show and even some farms that may be exhibitors at expo can come in and show off their job opportunities”
Erf supports dairy through consumptions as well! She’s a Princess Kay of the Milky Way Finalist in Minnesota (similar to the Alice in Dairyland program in Wisconsin) where finalists are carved into a 90 pound butter sculpture. What will she do with that much butter? Erf says she will be, “Having a pancake breakfast or a corn feed where we can share the butter with all the people that have supported me in this journey”
Wisconsin has a special place for her, but Erf is a Dairy Science major at South Dakota State University. She’s excited to continue in this industry and will be at World Dairy Expo in fall as well! “I can’t wait to see you all in Madison, Wisconsin at World Dairy Expo September 28-October 2 to celebrate what is instrumental to the dairy industry” Erf says.
