There was never a dull moment at the Eau Claire County Farm Technology Days this year! For my first-time attending Farm Tech Days, I’d have to say it was a great experience and an incredible sight to see. I was in awe of the amount of people who attended to celebrate and learn more about agriculture’s progression in technology and equipment. My favorite part was meeting and greeting many different people at the WAXX 104.5 booth! It was a fun way to meet people and it felt good when people said they listen to our station. Hearing that support meant a lot. I had a lot of fun helping John Murphy with the spin the wheel and plinko prize giveaways we did in the afternoon. We had a long line wrapping around the outside of the booth.
The first day of Farm Tech Days was a hot one, but the second day was cooler and there was a breeze going through Tent City. I had the privilege to meet Bob Bosold, Scott Shultz and other WAXX 104.5 team members in person. I even joined Bob in the studio for the Midwest Farm Report at 4:30 in the morning Tuesday and Wednesday. Bob threw me right on the air the first day. I introduced myself, shared which county fairs are coming up, and said a few other announcements and news throughout the show. It was educational to see how Bob preps for the farm show and how he runs it. I was able to watch where he gets the news and markets from, how he condenses it for the radio and how he reads it to the audience. Watching his routine and the programs he uses was a lot to follow, but cool to see.
On the second day of Farm Tech Days, my parents came to the show. I stepped out of the booth for a while and walked around the grounds with them. One of my favorite stops was in the beef tent. I am a huge fan of Highlander cattle and when I saw a mother and baby Highlander, I walked right over to them. They were so fluffy and friendly.
Overall, my first experience at Farm Technology Days was great! I highly recommend attending. Next year’s Farm Technology Days will be hosted in Clark County! Hope you can make it!
