As we celebrate June Dairy Month, dairy breakfasts are popping up across the state. I had the opportunity to attend this year’s Monroe County Dairy Breakfast at MDS Dairy in Sparta, WI with my family. The hosts of this year’s breakfast was the Phil and Patty Mlsna family. Even though it was a hot and sunny day, the farm was still buzzing with people of all ages and sizes. In fact, there was around 3,150 people that attended the breakfast.
Throughout the farm grounds, there was an animal education area, educational displays, children’s activities, antique tractor display, musical performers, horse-drawn wagon rides, farm tours, and of course the food tent. With the help of local organizations and businesses, the food was delicious. The menu included, ham & cheese omelets, pancakes, culver’s strawberry sundaes, donut holes, cookies, buttered toast, cheese, coffee and milk. It was a great feeling to see a large crowd of people together again, especially while celebrating a wonderful industry. As we continue the month of June, keep celebrating the dairy industry and enjoy farm fresh dairy products!
